The direction is shocking in 13 Moons, which is a shame because if it were directed by someone who knew what they were doing, it could have been an amazing film.
In a Year of 13 Moons is a lonely film, about crying by oneself, and captures the deep sadness of our depressing world. The self-loathing and suicidal tendencies on display are so deeply believable because so much emphasis is placed on the dialogue and the dialogue here is trying to find words that describe feelings and yet the right words can never be found.
