Am 18. August 1961 vertrat Ringo Starr den erkrankten Beatles-Schlagzeuger Pete Best bei einem Konzert im Cavern Club in Liverpool. Am 5. Februar 1962 trat er erneut für den erkrankten Best als Ersatzmann mit den Beatles auf. Zunächst wieder im Cavern Club und am selben Tag später am Abend im Kingsway Club in Southport.
