WILLIAM HARVEY wurde am 1.April 1578 in Folkestone (Grafschaft Kent, England) als Sohn eines Kaufmanns geboren. Er ging in Canterbury zur Schule, wo er u. a. klassische Sprachen lernte, besuchte anschließend das „Gonville-and-Caius-College“ der Universität von Cambridge, das er 1597 mit dem akademischen Grad „Bachelor of Arts“ verließ.

William Harvey war ein englischer Arzt, Anatom und als Entdecker des menschlichen Blutkreislaufs ein Pionier der modernen Physiologie. Er wurde nach dem damals verwendeten julianischen Kalender am 1.
