Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff (Roterdam, 30 de agosto de 1852 — Berlim, 1 de março de 1911) foi um químico neerlandês e o primeiro vencedor do Nobel de Química. É mais conhecido por suas descobertas em cinética química, equilíbrio químico, pressão osmótica e estereoquímica.
Biographie. Sein Studium der Chemie begann H. 1869 am Polytechnikum in Delft. 1871 wechselte er an die Universität Leiden über und legte dort 1872 das „Kandidaten-Examen“ ab. Anschließend ging er nach Bonn, wo er Schüler Kekulés wurde. Kurze Zeit studierte er auch in Paris bei → A. Wurtz. 1874 bestand er in Utrecht die Doktorprüfung.
