  1. The Young Women of Color Symposium is a leadership conference for 7th–12th grade, self-identified young women of color in the Chicagoland area. In order to protect, support and empower young women of color, Loyola Academy and Francis W. Parker School have partnered together to create a space for conversation, connection and community.

  2. T he doors of Francis Parker School first opened, in Mission Hills, on December 31, 1912. Founders Clara Sturges Johnson and her husband, William Templeton Johnson, based their educational philosophy on the work of Colonel Francis Wayland Parker and the experience of the Chicago school where Col. Parker’s principles were first put into practice.

  7. Nationally recognized progressive educators Ted and Nancy Sizer were among Parker's founders and the school is part of their legacy; Ted and Nancy served as co-principals at Parker in 1998-1999. The school was named after Francis W. Parker, the 19th-century New England educator who is known as the father of American progressive education.
