28. Sept. 2011 · Corp. R&B/Soul singer-songwriter Syleena Johnson released her fifth studio album, Chapter V: Underrated, on Sept. 27, 2011. The title of the album speaks for itself. Although Johnson has the qualities of a great R&B singer, she is definitely overlooked in the music industry. The album begins with a bold track called “Underrated.”.
She also received a Grammy nomination for being the featured vocalist on "All Falls Down.". Though the album was mostly produced by Toxic (Faith Evans, Keyshia Cole) and his crew and includes a few guest artists (Tweet, Malone, Na'Tee), the focus is blissfully more on compelling, groove-oriented songwriting and Johnson's powerful, emotional vocals than star-studded invites.
CHAPTER 5: UNDERRATED followed and featured the single “A Boss” and a stunning duet with Tweet, “Angry Girl.” In 2012 Syleena released the ACOUSTIC SOUL SESSIONS EP and the following year she joined forces with Musiq Soulchild for the reggae album 9INE.
