Such a situation happened for ex-Atreyu and current Dead Icarus vocalist Alex Varkatzas, who recently admitted a highly meme’d claim he made back in 2018 was a bit much.

12. Aug. 2023 · Vor drei Jahren trennten sich die Wege zwischen Atreyu und ihrem Gründungsmitglied Alex Varkatzas. Ein Jahr später, 2021, stellte der Sänger sein neues Projekt Dead Icarus vor. Doch die ersten Töne dieses Projekts ließen weitere zwei Jahre auf sich warten.
Ziemlich überraschend gaben Atreyu gestern bekannt, mit sofortiger Wirkung ohne Bandgründer und Frontmann Alex Varkatzas weitermachen zu wollen. Nach über 20 Jahren im Atreyu-Verbund traf die Band nun die einvernehmliche Entscheidung, sich von Varkatzas zu trennen und nach einem neuen Sänger Ausschau zu halten. Dies verkündete die Band in einem Statement via Facebook.
