  2. COMMUNITY: Tamalpais High School is located in Mill Valley, 10 miles north of San Francisco; it serves the communities of Mill Valley, Sausalito, Marin City, Bolinas and Stinson Beach. SEMESTER/DAY: Tamalpais High School has two semesters and 180 school days. Students are required to take six classes per day, and may choose to take seven.

  4. Tamalpais High School. September, 2014. In 1906, the Tamalpais Union High School District was formed by the union of the Sausalito and Mill Valley Elementary School Districts. A train stop platform was built in conjunction with construction of the school. Train service began on August 8, 1908, two days after the school’s first day.

  7. 22. Apr. 2013 · When Tamalpais High School was founded in 1908, Native Americans were barely considered citizens of the United States and needed special permits to vote. Perhaps, in that time of limited social acceptance, the Tam students and staff thought they were being progressive by honoring the Miwok Indian by having it as the mascot until 1989.
