Apr. 2018 · Someone like Lightnin’ Slim starting out in music would have been more familiar with blues artists like John Lee Hooker (Mississippi) and Lightnin’ Hopkins (Texas) than local musicians like Robert Pete Williams and Snooks Eaglin. That’s the theory put forward by John Broven in his excellent “South To Louisiana: The Music Of The Cajun Bayous” or, at least, my paraphrasing of it.
