Peter Mullan (/ ˈ m ʊ l ən /; born 2 November 1959) is a Scottish actor and director. He is best known for his role in Ken Loach's My Name Is Joe (1998) and The Claim (2000). Mullan appeared in cult classics such as Riff-Raff (1991), Braveheart (1995), Trainspotting (1996), Young Adam (2003), Children of Men (2006), War Horse (2011) and the Harry Potter series (2010–11).
Mullan er født i Peterhead, nordøst i Skottland som nr. fem av åtte barn. Familien var katolske og flyttet tidlig til en forstad av Glasgow. Faren, en voldelig alkoholiker, arbeidet som lab-tekniker, mens moren arbeidet som sykepleier. Som ung var Mullan medlem av en gate gjeng, senere jobbet han som utkaster ved en rekke lugubre puber.
