Aus Konstanz war der 1773 geborene Großvater Katharinas Chrysostomos Schratt als junger Mann 1793 nach Wien gekommen, um an der Universität zu studieren. 1798 legte er seine Prüfung als Wundarzt ab, zwei Jahre später als Geburtshelfer. Als in Baden eine Chirurgen-Stelle frei wurde, bewarb er sich darum und ließ sich dort 1800 nieder.
Frau Schratt -mit Einverständnis der Kaiserin- eine enge Freundschaft entwickelte, die bis zu dessen Tod hielt. Bewertung: Der österreichische Sachbuchautor und Zeitungskolumnist Georg Markus (geboren 1952) ver-öffentlichte im Jahre 1982 das Buch: "Katharina Schratt - Die zweite Frau des Kaisers".
