   Die Villa Vauban hat ihren Namen von einem Fort der ehemaligen Luxemburger Festung, welches von Sébastien Le Prestre Vauban (1633-1707), dem Festungsbaumeister Ludwigs XIV. errichtet und beim Bau des Wohnhauses als Fundament integriert wurde. Heute ist im Untergeschoss des Museums ein imposantes Stück der Umfassungsmauer dieses Forts aus dem 18. Jahrhundert zu bewundern.
