Wirken. Louis Burt Mayer wurde am 4. Juli 1885 in Minsk (Weißrußland) geboren und wanderte als Kind mit seinen Eltern in den Vereinigten Staaten ein. Seine Jugend verbrachte er in bescheidenen Verhältnissen in St. John in der Provinz New Brunswick in Kanada, wo sein Vater ein kleines Geschäft hatte. Dort besuchte er auch die Volksschule.
