Life dates. 1646-1699. Biography. Niece of Cardinal Jules Mazarin (q.v.); in 1661 married Armand Charles de La Porte de La Meilleraye; the marriage was an unhappy one and Hortense fled to Rome in 1668; to England in 1675 where became the mistress of Charles II of England (q.v.). Bibliography.
Hortense Mancini, Duchesse de Mazarin (1646–1699), was many things in her life. She was a mother, noblewoman, exiled wife and autobiographer.
