Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Dropped Cone, 2001. This giant ice-cream cone looks like it might have been dropped by an oversized child roaming the city of Cologne like a modern-day King Kong, but it is in fact the work of American pop artist Claes Oldenburg and his wife and frequent creative collaborator Coosje van Bruggen.
Claes Oldenburg (1929-2022), der in der Schweiz geborene, amerikanisch inspirierte Pop Art-Künstler, ist vor allem für seine lustigen, skurrilen und bahnbrechenden Pop Art-Skulpturen bekannt. Zu den Werken, die er im Laufe seines langen Lebens und seiner Karriere als Künstler schuf, gehören: Lipstick Ascending on Caterpillar Tracks (1969), Clothespin (1976) und Spoonbridge and Cherry (1988).
