Biography. Marcello Piacentini, Italian architect and urban planner, was born the son of Pio Piacentini (1846–1928), one of the most successful architects of the Italian capital. The son was a protagonist on the Italian architecture scene in the 1910-40 period, adopting the role of master ideologue of the Fascist regime’s monumentalism.
