Antonin-Gilbert Sertillanges trat 1883 in Belmont in Spanien in den Dominikanerorden ein, der zu dieser Zeit in Frankreich verboten war. Er studierte in Belmonte und Córcega in Spanien. 1888 wurde er zum Priester geweiht. Ab 1890 lehrte er Theologie in Korbara auf Korsika. Im gleichen Jahr wurde er Sekretär der "Revue Thomiste" und Redaktionsmitglied der "Revue Bénédictine".
