Feb. 2023 · Curiously, no picture of Booker T And The MGs appeared on the Green Onions album cover – a conscious omission on the part of the label, who were keen to not cause controversy in the US South, which, in 1962, was still in the ugly grip of racial segregation. “They didn’t want people to know it was a mixed-race group,” explained the band’s guitarist, Steve Cropper.
