Actrice britannique, Claire Bloom est née à Londres dans une famille d’immigrants juifs venus de Russie et de Pologne. Sa jeunesse est perturbée par la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et elle s’exile notamment aux Etats-Unis en 1941 pour échapper au blitz londonien. Là, elle y apprend le chant et la danse, mais rejoint sa famille à Londres en 1943 où elle va reprendre une formation théâtrale.
