Her father, Neil Sedaka, was a renowned singer, songwriter, and pianist, and her mother was a homemaker. From a young age, Dara displayed a keen interest in music, and her father recognized her talent.

She is perhaps best known in Asia thanks to her song, 'Angel Queen', which is the theme song of the Japanese animated series 'Queen Queen Angel Queen'.
