Rowdy (officially Rowdy the Roadrunner) is the mascot of the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners. He appears at athletic events, such as football and basketball games, and other university sponsored events.

Rowdy the Roadrunner has been the UTSA mascot since 1977 when it was decided in a 2-1 student vote. Originally the two contenders for the mascot were the armadillos and the stars.
Rowdy, UTSA’s favorite feathered friend, still is the university mascot. Athletics teams still call themselves Roadrunners or ’Runners, and the colors remain orange, white, and navy blue. What changed was the appearance of the logo. And this time around, there were hundreds of people involved with the process of creating the new look.
Today, more than 30 years after Gonzalez’s first appearance as the Roadrunner, the operations manager for Lonestar Radiator Co. in San Antonio remembers the thrill of hatching out of an egg that he and cheerleaders had built for that first game at HemisFair Arena against the University of Arkansas.
