Joachim Murat war ein französischer Kavallerieoffizier, der im Dienst Kaiser Napoleons Karriere machte. Er heiratete dessen Schwester Caroline Bonaparte und wurde dadurch Schwager Napoleons.
Joachim Murat's in einer deutschen Biographie Erwähnung zu thun. Seine späteren Geschicke, seine neapolitanische Regenten- und Kriegslausbahn bis zu dem Verrath an seinem Wohlthäter und sein Hinrichtungstod im Castell von Pizzo, am 13. October 1815, gehören nicht in diesen Rahmen.
