Max and Helen ★★½ 1990Uneven, but sensitive and at times highly moving made for TV story of two lovers who are victims of the holocaust. Max (Williams) survives both Nazi and Stalinist camps out of both love for his fiancee and guilt for having lived while she did not. 94m/C VHS .
To be able to take him to justice, he must find witnesses who can help him. This leads him to Max Rosenberg, a still tormented individual who lost his wife, Helen, in the camps. Anyway, in this 1990 version Martin Landau lifts the film above mediocre as Simon Weisenthal and Treat Williams is pretty good as Max the man telling his story to the nazi hunter. In trying to bring a former concentration camp commandant to justice, Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal uncovers the tragic story of two lovers separated by the war.
