22. Sept. 2015 · Ben Cauley would be the sole survivor. Over time, Cauley and James Alexander reformed the Bar-Kays to continue work at Stax. In 1989 Cauley suffered a stroke and eventually would make a full recovery. On 6 June, 2015, Ben Cauley was inducted into the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame in Clarksdale, Mississippi along with other Bar-Kays.

Roy Cunningham. Ben Jones. Willie Hall. The Bar-Kays, auch The Barkays, ist eine US-amerikanische Funkband aus Memphis, Tennessee, die seit ihrer Gründung 1966 bis heute aktiv ist. Die Formation spielte u. a. als Studioband mit Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, The Staple Singers und Rufus Thomas. 1967 veröffentlichte sie ihr erstes Album.
Ben Cauley ging zur Trompete und gründete während seiner Schulzeit eine Band mit Freunden seines Alters, darunter dem Gitarristen Jimmy King. Ursprünglich die Imperialen getauft, wurde die Gruppe Mitte der 1960er Jahre zu den Bar-Kays .
