Upon his departure, he attempted to record a solo album which ultimately failed, and would eventually form his own band, The Ace Kefford Stand, who released one single in 1969 before breaking up. Following Kefford's departure, Burton switched to bass before leaving himself in 1969, and was replaced by Rick Price. Reception

Nov. 2022 · Of the pair, singer-guitarist Roy Wood was first to enjoy chart success after he joined the volatile Move, so named when members of Carl Wayne and the Vikings, the Nightriders and Mayfair Set moved together in late 1965 to form a Brummie supergroup, also comprising singer Wayne, bassist Chris ‘Ace’ Kefford, guitarist Trevor Burton and drummer Bev Bevan.
ELO 's remake of one of the Move's final singles, "Do Ya" (which had scraped the bottom of the U.S. charts in 1972), would become a hit in 1977. By that time, though, Wood was long gone from ELO -- he had left in 1972 to pursue a career as a leader of Wizzard and as a solo artist. And for all ELO 's massive worldwide success, they never matched ...
2. Jan. 2018 · Spurred on by Davy Jones’ suggestion that Ace Kefford and Trevor Burton should form their own band, the debut gig of The Move took place at the Belfrey Hotel on January 23rd 1966. The band played mostly covers of west coast American groups such as The Byrds and Moby Grape, with various Motown and rock ‘n roll classics.
24. Sept. 2017 · Kefford formed The Ace Kefford Stand in 1968, which included guitarist Dave Ball, bassist Dennis Ball and legendary drummer Cozy Powell. He wrote the song "William Chalker's Time Machine", a 1968 single by The Lemon Tree. Kefford has bipolar disorder. His leaving The Move came after a period of heavy gigging and experimentation with LSD.
