Biography. King; son of Clovis I (q.v.) and Clotilda (q.v.), shared the kingdom with his brothers Thierry I, Clodomir (Chlodomer) et Childebert I after their father's death in 511, but seeked to extent his estate, notably by arranging the murder of Clodomir's sons; eventually became the sole King of the Franks after Childebert's death in 558.
