Snooks Eaglin continued performing and recording into the 21st century -- including his final album, 2002's The Way It Is -- and near the end of his life few knew that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer; Eaglin was admitted to New Orleans' Ochsner Medical Center in February 2009, where he died of a heart attack on the 18th of that month at age 73. ~ Bill Dahl

Feb. 2007 · Another 11 pleasing tracks by hard-swinging Snooks Eaglin, the kind of thing you would imagine hearing in a New Orleans bar on a particularly good night (although no longer from Snooks himself, who passed in 2009). Strange to think that for a long time my only impression of Eaglin was from an acoustic album he made 40 years ago. High-quality good-time music - recommended.
