James Wolcott Wadsworth (* 12. Oktober 1846 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; † 24. Dezember 1926 in Washington D.C.) war ein US-amerikanischer Offizier und Politiker. James Wolcott Wadsworth Jr. was elected to a succeed Root, defeating Democrat James Watson Gerard. Primary elections were held on September 28. These were the first direct primaries (in which party members chose each candidate individually rather than as part of a slate) in the history of New York state. [1]

His daughter Cornelia Wadsworth Ritchie Adair (1837–1921) became prominent as matriarch of Glenveagh Castle in County Donegal, Ireland, and the large JA Ranch in the Texas Panhandle.
James W. Wadsworth, Jr. (1877-1952) was a leader in the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment. New York voters elected him to the State Assembly in 1904. He became Speaker of the Assembly in 1905, serving until 1910. Wadsworth briefly managing his family’s ranch in Texas.
