Edgar Allan Poe Poe wurde am 19.01.1809 in Boston als Sohn von Schauspielern geboren. Er verwaiste schon als Zweijähriger. 1826 begann er ein Studium an der University of Virginia. 1827 kam er zum Militärdienst, von dem er 1831 entlassen wurde. 1838 heiratete er seine Cousine Virgiania Clemm, die 1847 starb und ihn hilflos zurückließ.
