9. Apr. 2017 · Sep 2019. Currently, Lennox Castle is abandoned and in a sorry state. Built from 1837 to 1841, it retains some of the majesty of its former existence in an almost haunted way. The Castle and its grounds have had various uses over the years including mansion, hospital, maternity hospital, and accommodation for hospital nurses.

It's a lovely walk through the woodlands (the old castle grounds) on a nice day. Park on Castle Circle and follow the path up through the trees to the top of the hill. Good stout shoes recommended but not essential. It's not a strenuous walk and the path is good but there is a steep drop on one side when you get close to the top.
No lie -- this was a cool find. We actually were just trying to explore the lover's leap trail when we came out to Lennoxtown, but we found this castle while just exploring. You will cross a little bridge and immediately after the bridge on the right there are 2 parking spaces and a trail head (See photos). On the other side of the road is a park and a paved walking trail. Don't take the paved trail. Follow the path until you reach the first turn off to the right. You will see a river.
