Dick Dale was an American guitarist who pioneered the surf rock genre in the 1960s. His unique playing style blended Middle Eastern influences with rockabilly and electric guitar techniques. Born Richard Monsour in 1937, Dale learned piano as a child but gravitated toward the guitar, playing it left-handed and upside down.

Dick Dale. Richard Anthony Monsour, känd som Dick Dale, född 4 maj 1937 i Boston, Massachusetts, död 16 mars 2019 i Loma Linda, Kalifornien, [ 1] var en amerikansk gitarrist, sångare och låtskrivare. Han anses vara surfrockens fader; med låtarna "Misirlou" och "Let's Go Trippin'" från 1962 lade han grunden för surfmusiken.
