I really dislike how modern the old vampires and other ancient beings (like Qetsiyah) were written in this show. Like I get that they would act a certain way to blend in but I feel like the writers didn't take into account how different their values and traits would be in comparison to characters like Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, etc.
They could’ve made Elena Bamiputera, the Salvatore brothers Mestizo and Caroline Greek for all I care. I genuinely don’t give a hoot about what ethnicity an actor belongs to and whether they look like how someone has described it in a book. I care about whether they portray a character well and Kat Graham did a stellar job portraying Bonnie.
