Yoko Ono isn't to everyone's taste mainly due to her honesty which can be gauche and inelegant. And her nineteen eighty-five album Starpeace is a case in point. Despite having quality musicians such as synthesizer wizard Bernie Worrell, the excellent rhythm masters Sly and Robbie and various other Bill Laswell, who is the producer here, associates.
The driving disco/post disco background rhythms on StarPeace and what I've heard on other 1980-vintage Ono songs often ruins it for me in the majority of songs. I do like musical experiments and I do appreciate the words/themes/concepts but to me the music rarely does it justice or pull together the songs to make the 80s songs good (for me). I like best the last 5 songs the best on StarPeace ...
