Fred (Frederick John) Eaglesmith (b Elgersma). Songwriter, guitarist, country-folk singer, b near Caistor Centre, Ont, 9 Jul 1957. One of nine children and raised in a religious home, Eaglesmith recalls his childhood as being in one of two places, either working the farm or driving to church.

Eaglesmith was een van de negen kinderen van een streng gelovig boerengezin in het zuiden van Ontario. Eaglesmith herinnert zich dat hij in zijn jeugd op een van twee plekken was: aan het werk op de boerderij of op weg naar de kerk. Op zijn tiende zag hij Elvis Presley op tv, en die dag schreef hij zijn eerste liedje.
But Dusty is on the merits the best album Fred Eaglesmith has recorded. This is still all Fred, but channeled through drum machines and production and strange as it may be, it really really works.
