An absolute must have for any Jazz vocalist enthusiast. Murphy is possibly one of if not the best Jazz vocalist of all time -- a true Jazz vocalist, not merely a lounge singer.

Mark Howe Murphy (March 14, 1932 – October 22, 2015) was an American jazz singer based at various times in New York City, Los Angeles, London, and San Francisco. He recorded 51 albums under his own name during his lifetime and was principally known for his innovative vocal improvisations.

While it may not be the elusive Bop for Kerouac, what is here is every bit as good. Murphy remains a singular talent in jazz. The bop and post- bop scenes have been his inspirations all along and he sings with the authority of a saxophonist.
