School friends Trevor Brice, on lead guitar, with bassist Tony Jarrett, guitarist Tony Goulden, drummer Tony Barrows and singer, Peter Butcher started the first line-up of the Avengers. Barrows was soon replaced by Pete Gilbert, and they added keyboard player Barry Landemen.
