The National Test Pilot School offers the best total flight test education and training in the world. NTPS is located in and uses the finest flight test area in the United States, the R-2508 Complex used also by Edwards AFB and China Lake NAS. NTPS has modern facilities employing the latest technologies including specialized laboratories, simulators, ranges, and telemetry systems.
Its facilities improved greatly when the school, which had been renamed the U.S. Air Force Flight Test Pilot School on June 9, 1955, moved into its present facilities on the Main Base. The F-16 High Angle-of-Attack event, conducted around the 8th month of USAF TPS, is an event where the students design, rehearse and execute a plan that is representative of “real” flight test coordinating with the pilots.
Once you are qualified to join the Air Force as an officer, you will take this path to get your wings: Complete Officer Training (Air Force Academy, AFROTC, or OTS).
