20. Okt. 2022 · Burial has released a new three-song EP called Streetlands.It runs just under 35 minutes, featuring the songs “Hospital Chapel,” the title track, and “Exokind.” Listen to the new EP below.
Burial spoils us with his 2nd release of ’22, leaving the beats for dust and dialling up the ASMR ambient feels to tongue-tip, piloerect effect for lovers and lonely ravers. Landing almost 15 years to the month since ‘Untrue’, the three durational parts of ‘Streetlands’ lend another panel to the widescreen ambient-cinematic tableaux that he’s been building for the past five years ...
But Streetlands ups the ante again. The sparse opener "Hospital Chapel" is completely free of rhythm (and momentum), as undulating and decaying choral chords slouch towards entropy. It sets up an EP where his already inward-facing music begins to collapse in on itself. The other two tracks have some hints of classic Burial.
