I would rate this as one of the finest jazz vocal albums of all time with Vaughan using the Brazilian rhythms to emphasise her mastery of tempo and phrasing. It's also somehow very sexy, too. If angels had voices they would sing like Sarah Vaughan, but as there are no angels, buy this record instead!

Vaughan with Voices is a 1964 studio album by Sarah Vaughan, arranged by Robert Farnon. [1] Recorded in Copenhagen, Denmark, produced by Quincy Jones , and accompanied by the Svend-Saaby Danish Choir, this was Vaughan's only album arranged by Robert Farnon, and one of a number of albums she made with Jones, who later discussed the project with jazz critic and composer Leonard Feather .

Sarah Lois Vaughan (/ v ɔː n /, pronunciation respelling VAWN; March 27, 1924 – April 3, 1990) was an American jazz singer and pianist. Nicknamed "Sassy" and " The Divine One ", [1] she won two Grammy Awards , including the Lifetime Achievement Award, and was nominated for a total of nine Grammy Awards. [2]
