März 2023 · Known in some regions as Angel City, The Angels’ second studio album from 1978, Face To Face, is memorable for not only the homage paid to AC/DC but to the diversity of music heard throughout. This energetic and diverse collection of rock songs with catchy melodies and hard-hitting rock instrumentation is a timeless classic and is deserving of a place in every respectable rock collection.
Face to Face is where The Angels' trademark "nik-nik-nik-nik" style of muted eighth notes was born. Producer Mark Opitz was wracking his brains trying to unify the band's music with some sort of common theme, and when the boys brought "I Ain't the One" into the studio and launched into a high energy display of muted eights ("nik-nik-nik-nik") it was his eureka moment.
