For the most part, this is a fairly standard ghost/cat spirit revenge film. A couple of items however let it rise above most of the others. First is the appearance of a super young Shintarô Katsu, the theatricality of the whole film, and the unusual Kabuki inspired revenge scene at the end. The boat scene was also a highlight for me.
