Film Review by Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat. The pandemic and the death of the head priest at a large Catholic church in New York City has forced this once thriving house of worship to lock its doors. Father Andrew (Kevin Corrigan) has little to do and has decided to keep a journal about his responses to the catastrophe that has overtaken him.

This is officially the first “pandemic” film I’ve ever seen, in which I mean one that focuses on the actual 2020-2021-2022 phenomena. Scenes From an Empty Church is a thoughtful and reflective film that doesn’t preach any sort of ideals except those that touch upon personal faith, using the pandemic to more obviously show us how we struggle to navigate our way through the world.
