Dragged Across Concrete mag moralisch fragwürdig anmuten und lässt eine solche Auslegung durchaus zu, denn Zahler will bewusst provozieren, doch sein Film ist in vielen Aspekten ziemlich clever geraten, pointiert geschrieben und vor allem unglaublich präzise inszeniert in seiner grundlegenden Ambivalenz. In Dragged Across Concrete ist die wohl auffälligste von ihnen eine junge Mutter (Jennifer Carpenter), die erst ausführlich eingeführt wird als Frau, die Angst hat ihr Baby nach den drei Monaten Mutterschutz zu verlassen und die nur widerwillig zur Arbeit in ihrer Bank geht. Dort wird sie zwei Minuten nach Ankunft niedergemetzelt.
