Johnson during 1964 and 1965 focusing mainly on eliminating racial injustice and ending poverty in the United States. The term “Great Society” was first used by President Johnson in a speech at Ohio University.
Building the Great Society had been Lyndon Johnson’s biggest priority, and he effectively used his decades of experience in building legislative majorities in a style that ranged from diplomacy to quid pro quo deals to bullying.
