Michael Henderson, a funky, energizing bassist who worked with Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis before launching a potent R&B career in the mid-’70s, died on July 19th. He was 71. Born in Mississippi but raised in Detroit, Henderson joined Stevie Wonder’s band in the late ’60s.
Michael Henderson (July 7, 1951 – July 19, 2022) was an American bass guitarist and singer-songwriter. He was known for his work with Miles Davis in the early 1970s. He was also known for his fusion albums such as Jack Johnson, [1] Live-Evil, and Agharta. [2] Henderson died on July 19, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia, two weeks after his 71st birthday.

Tonight we are sad to report the death of Michael Henderson at age 71. Henderson had been admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta last month ago for an undisclosed illness, and never recovered.
