William Carlos Williams ( Rutherford, Nueva Jersey, 17 de septiembre de 1883 – ibídem, 4 de marzo de 1963) fue un escritor estadounidense vinculado al modernismo y al imagismo. Es especialmente conocido por su obra poética. Además de escritor, Williams fue médico y ejerció tanto la pediatría como la medicina general.

He also wrote plays, novels, short stories, translations, essays, and an autobiography.

William Carlos Williams noticeably explored new directions in his work from the 1930s onwards. Rather than focusing on the positive aspects of the world, his work went down a darker path, with more of an emphasis on the world’s underbelly. This could have been linked to a building of depression.
William Carlos Williams, geboren 1883 in Rutherford, New Jersey, gilt neben Ezra Pound und T.S. Eliot als der bedeutendste amerikanische Lyriker der Moderne. Er lebte als Arzt in seiner Heimatstadt, wo er 1963 starb.
All but the first two lines of “The Red Wheelbarrow” is devoted to one image. Williams’s poems also often point out the relationship between things and the words we use to talk about them. In “A Sort of a Song,” Williams makes a bold statement: Let the snake wait under. his weed. and the writing.
