30. Apr. 2024 · When you think about the J.J. Cale songs that other artists have covered and made famous, Eric Clapton’s versions of “After Midnight” and “Cocaine” usually make the cut. (Lynyrd Skynyrd’s take on “Call Me the Breeze” and Santana’s rendition of “The Sensitive Kind” also come to mind.)
28. Apr. 2024 · In the studio, I recognized musicians through my lens: Adams, my brother Jim and the NRBQ guys: co-founder/bassist Joey Spampinato, his guitarist brother Johnny and drummer Tommy Ardolino. Adams explained their role on a jazz project simply: “Nobody plays better.”
Vor 5 Tagen · Next is the Joey Spampinato composition, “I Can’t Stop Loving You Now,” which despite the pedal steel, is still an NRBQ song through and through (Davis and Spampinato would eventually marry). “Heart to Heart” is an excellent duet between Davis and Al Anderson, then she teams with Terry Anderson on “Ain’t Nice To Talk Like That,” complete with a trombone solo!
