Andrew John Hozier-Byrne (born 17 March 1990), known professionally as Hozier (/ ˈ h oʊ z i ər / HOH-zee-ər), [1] is an Irish musician, singer and songwriter. His music primarily draws from folk, soul and blues, often using religious and literary themes and taking political or social justice stances.

Biografie. Hozier wuchs als Sohn eines Bluesmusikers mit Musik auf und trat mit 15 Jahren seiner ersten Band bei. Nach der Schule nahm er ein Schulmusikstudium am Trinity College Dublin auf und gehörte währenddessen dem Universitätsorchester an. Wenig später brach er das Studium ab, um eigene Demos aufzunehmen.
