Donhead Preparatory School is a non-selective school which has achieved over 45 Scholarships to senior schools over the past 5 years. People sometimes ask what makes a Jesuit school different or distinctive.
Prep School. Classes are largely taught by their form teacher, believing that the development of a close relationship with the form teacher is of great benefit at this stage of their education. Music, PE, Art, French, Computing, and Games are taught by subject specialists.
Donhead is an all-male private, preparatory day school located in Wimbledon, in the London Borough of Merton. The school is under the governance of the Jesuits, a Catholic religious order founded by Ignatius of Loyola in 1540.
Admissions Welcome. We are delighted that you are considering Donhead for your child and aim to make our admissions process as supportive as possible. Our main entry points to Donhead are the Preschool (3+) and Reception (4+).
Donhead was founded by Fr Oscar Withnell, the Rector of Wimbledon College at the time, when the need arose to find suitable premises in Wimbledon where the junior classes of the bulging College could migrate to form a preparatory school with its own Headteacher, staff and grounds.
We seek to educate children of competence, conscience and compassionate commitment. We hope our students will become ‘Men and Women for Others’, in active service of those who need their help most.
