David Leslie Gilson Lavis ( / ˈɡɪlsən ˈleɪvɪs / GHIL-sən LAY-vis, born 27 June 1951) is an English drummer and portrait artist. He gained fame as the drummer with band Squeeze in the 1970s and 80s. Lavis is currently the drummer for Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, with former Squeeze bandmate Jools Holland .
Gilson Lavis was born in Bedford on 27th June 1951. His career has spanned four decades where has played with a myriad of people from the entertainment industry. He is one of Britain's most experienced and versatile drummers still performing and touring Britain and Europe on a full time basis.
